Sonny Nunn

Sonny Nunn was born on October 22, 1936, in Talladega, Alabama. He passed away on May 22, 2024, leaving behind many cherished memories with the people he cared for. Sonny proudly dedicated 51 years of his life to working as a truck driver, roaming the highways of the United States. His journeys were filled with stories of adventure and connection, which he enjoyed sharing with all he met.

Sonny had a knack for striking up conversations with people from all walks of life. An avid Nascar enthusiast, he found joy in the speed and excitement of the races. Additionally, Sonny was a fervent supporter of his beloved football team, always cheering on "Roll Tide" with unwavering passion.

Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Maxine Thompson Nunn of Kellysville, WV; father, Arthur Nunn; mother, Excel Nunn; sisters, Austine Bridges, Levergne Helton, and Mary Ann Andrews; and brother, Roger Nunn.

He is survived by two daughters, Dawn Basile of Chicago, IL and Dixie Aull (Nick) of Belfast, TN; two sons, Darrin Nunn of McDonough, Ga and Doug Nunn (Heidi) of Lake Villa, Il; 5 grandchildren, Duane Mathena, Stefanie Basile, Chris Basile, Travis Nunn, and Rick Battaglia; 2 great grandchildren, Jason Duane (JD) Mathena and Alexys Battaglia; and sister Gail Malone.
