Mrs. Ruth Van Horn Beech, age 73 of Lewisburg, died Monday morning in Atlantic Beach, Florida, follwoing a battle with cancer. She was born in Woodward, Oklahoma to the late late Archie Glenn and Clelia Lowe VanHorn.
Mrs. Beech attended Middle Tennessee State University, and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. She taught reading to adults in the community and was a longtime resident of Lewisburg. Mrs. Beech was a member of the Robert Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and spent a military life traveling abroad with her husband of nearly 53 years and her three children.
Survivors include her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Harold Wayne Beech of Lewisburg; brother, John W. Sara Van Horn of Arkansas; sister, Wilma Katherine Victor Thomas of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, Mildred Van Horn of Lewisburg; daughters, Karen Beech Jeffery Grant of Orange Park, FL and Suzanne Beech David Jernigan of Crossville, TN; son, Curtiss Weyland Anne Beech of Kensington, MD; and six grandchildren: Megan Grant Rotchford, Joshua Andrew Grant, Jeffery Beech Grant, Amanda Lynn Jernigan, Rachel Anne Jernigan, and Austin Beech Jernigan.
