Rose Marie Newsom

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Marie Newsom, who left us peacefully on July 4, 2025. Rose, born on August 18, 1943, in Westlake, LA, to Ernest N Nelson and Maxine Barton Hunt.

She is survived by her children, Shelley Stengard of Lewisburg, TN, Cindy Lunsford (Terry) of Conway, AR, Estell Blalock (Mike) of Shelbyville, TN, and Michael Newsom of Lewisburg, TN; brother, Clifford Lee Nelson; grandchildren, Christy Lynn Ellis (Daniel), Jack Lee Vest Jr., Dustin Flores (Frankie), Dakota Flores, Larry “Lee” Newsom, Cody Newsom, Kris Blalock, and Tyler Blalock; 21 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and numerous other family members.

She is preceded in death by, her parents; siblings, Jack Nelson, Floyd “Lloyd” Nelson, Katherine Oliveaux; and grandchildren, April Flores, Harold “Jimmy” James Vest, and Michael “Anthony” Newsom Jr.

Rose was a strong woman known for her unwavering determination and hard work in everything she did. She tackled everything she did with fierce dedication, whether it was her work or her passions. An incredible seamstress and gifted crafter, Rose spent countless hours creating beautiful pieces that brought joy to those around her. A devoted Christian, Rose found joy in the simple things in life, particularly her love for hummingbirds, which often reminded her of the beauty in the world.
