Robert H. ' 'Bobby Lasater

Robert H. Bobby Lasater, age 75 of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in NHC-Lewisburg.

Born in Belfast in 1929, Mr. Lasater was the son of the late Ernest and Elmer Gabbart Lasater. He was a 1947 graduate of Marshall County High School, and a former member of the Belfast Lions Club, and current member of the Lewisburg Elks Lodge.

After his tour of duty with the United States Air Force, he returned to Marshall County to work with Florence Stove Company. His services were solicited by Red Cedar Pencil Company, where he joined as plant supervisor in August 1957. He was promoted to Vice President of L&C Hardtmuth Company, responsible for the cosmetic division. This division was renamed Cosmolab, where he served as President and CEO until his retirement in 1993. During his years at Cosmolab, he was instrumental in the establishment of the laboratory, and production of the cosmetic formula that made Cosmolab the only domestic manufacturer of the entire cosmetic pencil product. Mr. Lasater was a member of the Pencil Manufacturers Association, Board of Directors member of Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph of Bloomsbury NJ; board member for Cosmolab, under the ownership of rotring of Germany, and later Chairman of the Board. He also served as Chairman of the Board for the Cosmolab owned companies of Anomatic of Newark, OH; Geka Brush of Brattleboro, VT; and Leidel Corporation of Farmingdale, NY. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors of the former Peoples & Union Bank. In his profession, he was highly revered domestically and internationally in the cosmetic industry as a creator. As a person, he was revered as a Christian and a true Southern Gentleman.

Mr. Lasater is survived by his wife of 56 years: Hilda Baxter Lasater of Lewisburg; a daughter: Cindy Gabard of Chapel Hill; and two granddaughters: Meredith Douglas of Murfreesboro, and Mallory Gabard of Chapel Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.

The family will be at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 6:00 PM for visitation, and Friday until the funeral hour.
