Michael Henry Saites

Michael Henry “Mike” Saites, 71, of Belfast, Tennessee, passed away on August 2,2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 29, 1954, at Fort Riley, Kansas, to Louis Nick Saites and Rosemary Alice Huber, Mike lived a life marked by generosity, quiet thoughtfulness, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved. Mike was the kind of person who made the world feel a little warmer just by being in it. Those who knew him would tell you he was genuinely generous, always thinking of others before himself, and deeply thoughtful in everything he did. He had a way of making people feel seen and valued, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply his steady, reassuring presence.

For much of his working life, Mike made his living behind the wheel as a truck driver, logging countless miles. Those long stretches of open road suited him well, and he carried with him a love for the journey as much as the destination. Later in his career, he transitioned into surveying, bringing the same dedication and work ethic to a new profession and finding satisfaction in the precision and purpose the work demanded. When Mike wasn’t working, he could often be found indulging in the passions that brought him the most joy. He was a lifelong lover of trains. Whether he was watching them roll by, riding them, or carefully tending to his collection of model trains, there was something about the rumble and rhythm of the rails that spoke to his soul. He was also an avid baseball card collector with an extensive collection he took great pride in. NASCAR held a special place in his heart, and he never missed a chance to watch the races. Mike also had a musical side, enjoying singing and playing the guitar, filling the room with music that came straight from his heart. Mike was deeply involved in his church and was a devout Catholic whose faith was the foundation of everything he did. His relationship with God was not something he kept to himself; it guided his actions, shaped his character, and gave him strength, especially during his final days. He trusted in the Lord’s plan and found comfort in the promise of eternal.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Nick Saites and Rosemary Alice Huber; his sister, Nanette Saites; and his second mother Loni Gottenheiner, who held a special place in his life. He is survived by his sisters, Sherry Saites, (Ann-Ray Crocker) Nicolette Wilson (Frank), and Victoria Culver (Mark); and his brother, Nicholas Saites, (Ally); and many nieces and nephews all of whom will carry his memory forward with love and pride.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Details will be shared with family and friends as arrangements are finalized.

Mike walked this earth with a gentle spirit, a generous heart, and an abiding faith that carried him home. May he rest now in the everlasting peace of Christ, reunited with those who went before him, and forever watching over those he left behind.
