Mary Sue Talley Murdock, 90, resident of Petersburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by the love of her family.
Born and raised in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Louise Crawford Talley. She spent many dedicated years working with Teledyne, where she was respected and admired, retiring as a supervisor. A woman of deep faith, she was a lifelong member of Petersburg United Methodist Church, where she found great joy in fellowship and service.
Mary’s heart bloomed wherever she went. A proud and active member of the local Garden Club, she had an incredible gift for growing and arranging flowers. Her yard was always in full color, and her home reflected her love of beauty and hospitality. She was also well known for her exceptional cooking.
To her family, she was the heart of every gathering—steady, kind, and endlessly giving. She poured love into the smallest details of life, from a delicious meal to a vase of freshly cut blooms, and in doing so, she left a legacy of grace that will never fade.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Murdock and Cindy Murdock (Randy McQuiston); grandson, Andrew John (Sierra) Murdock II; sister, Barbara Woodward; and several nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and high school sweetheart of sixty-eight years, John William Murdock; her son, Andrew John Murdock; and siblings, John A. Talley, Jim Talley, Zella Dunivan, and Joe Edward Talley.
Her faith was steady, her heart was kind, and her love will forever bloom in the lives she touched.
