Mary Ellen Foster

April 11, 1930 — December 17, 2024

Mary Ellen Foster, resident of Lewisburg, died Tuesday, December 17, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Smith and Elma Stephenson Foster, her brothers, Thomas Smith Foster, Jr. and Donald Edgar Foster, her husband of 52 years, Rufus Guy Foster, daughter, Donna Foster, and son, James Thomas Foster.


She was born April 11, 1930, in Culleoka, TN and was a 1948 graduate of Marshall County High School. Mary Ellen enjoyed reading, needlework, and teaching ladies’ bible class at church and in her home up until the age of 94. She was a faithful member of Hardin Chapel Church of Christ. A caring wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her children, Robert Guy (Debbie) Foster, Sharon Franklin, Teresa Foster, and Susan Brown, daughter-in-law, Terry Foster, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


A fierce competitor in all games; she loved winning most of all. Her strong faith in God was evident in all aspects of her life. Being a mentor to many younger women created a legacy of kindness, faith, and love that will live on in the hearts of those with whom she shared her faith.


Visitation is on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home where friends and family are invited to pay their respects.


There will be a private family burial at New Hope Cemetery at Talley Station.
