Lillard Welch

February 13, 1944 — July 15, 2015

Lillard Melvin Welch, age 71 passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 after an extended illness.

A native of Petersburg, he was the son of the late Marvin and Maggie Watt Welch. Mr. Welch graduated from Petersburg High School and went on to serve in the United States Army National Guard. A life-long farmer, Mr. Welch also retired from the Kantus Corporation in Lewisburg. He continued to farm until the time of his illness.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Alvin Welch; his older brother, Bill Welch, and his niece, Tracy Welch Echols.

He is survived by his children, Brandy Welch of Nashville and Bodie (Danielle) Welch of Cornersville. He is also survived by his brother, Hilyard (June) Welch of Cornersville; his sister, Dean (Jimmy) Dunivan of Petersburg; his sister-in-law, Peggy Welch of Fayetteville; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Ralph Wayne Hart officiating. Mr. Welch will be laid to rest at the Welch Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation with the family will be Friday, July 17, 2015 from 4 PM until 8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the medical fund to aid Cayson Spray, a two year old who has been diagnosed with leukemia. Donations may be mailed to Cane Creek Church of Christ, C/O Ellis Pinkston, 3056 Cheese Road, Petersburg, TN 37144.
