It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kayla Louise Salyers Peters, born February 21, 1997, in Columbia, Tennessee. Kayla departed this life on September 11, 2026, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, leaving behind a legacy of love, joy, and kindness that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Kayla was a beloved daughter of Richard Kilgore and Antonia Hill, and stepdaughter of Joe. Above all, she was a devoted mother who cherished her two sons, Jayden and Braxton Peters, who were the light of her life. Kayla had a natural gift for caring for others and was a true caregiver at heart. Her cheerful personality, warm spirit, and radiant smile could brighten any room.

Kayla took great pride in her work at McDonald’s, where she loved her job and especially cherished the friendships she formed with her coworkers. She enjoyed being part of her work family and was proud to be working toward becoming a manager. Kayla was dedicated, hardworking, and always eager to grow and do her best.

Kayla had a special love for animals and took great joy in caring for her beloved bunny, Bubbles, and her puppy, Sassy. Her happiness was contagious, and she always sought to make her family and friends proud while striving to be the best person she could be.

Kayla is survived by her loving family, including her brothers, Allen, Blake, and Bentley Kilgore, stepsister, Carrie Hooten (Steve), her grandparent, Doug Doyle (Corinna “Nana”); uncles Dave Salyers (Donna), Brian Doyle (Ariel), and Jacob Pigg (Cassidy); aunts Katelynn Doyle and Stephanie Smith (Jay); special friend Andrea Longshore; and many other extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kenneth and Angelika Salyers.

In honor of Kayla's memory, a celebration of her life will be held at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM.
