Joyce Simmons

Joyce Ann Simmons passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on August 21, 1945, in Weeksbury, Kentucky, to the late James and Myrtle Johnson Pack.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Immediately following the visitation, a burial will take place at Lone Oak Cemetery.

She was a woman who lived life in her own special way—strong-willed, spirited, creative, and full of personality. She knew her own mind and wasn’t afraid to share her thoughts. She had a strong and determined spirit, and those who knew her best will remember her for her confidence and unmistakable personality

She had a special love for decorating, especially at Christmas. She could transform her home into a beautiful Winter Wonderland, filling it with the warmth, magic, and joy of the holiday season. Decorating was more than a hobby for her—it was a way she expressed her creativity and made the season special for those around her.

She also enjoyed yard sales, always ready to search for that special find, and loved word searches that kept her mind busy. She had a wonderful memory, too, especially when it came to important dates. Anniversaries and birthdays were rarely forgotten when she was around. She had a way of making people feel remembered.

Another joy in her life was taking pictures. She loved capturing moments and preserving memories, leaving behind photographs that will continue to remind her loved ones of the people, places, and moments that mattered to her.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Larry Simmons, son Frankie Simmons, brothers, Rodger Pack, Lee Bob Pack, and Glen Pack, and sister, Freda Schissler.

She is survived by, her daughter, Felicia Ekkert (Bill), son, Rodney Simmons, brother, Keith Pack (Debra), grandchildren, Jodi, Brittany, Sarah, Megan, and Austin, and great grandchildren, MaKayla, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Stormy, Alexander, Frankie, and Ellianna.

Those who knew and loved her will remember not only the things she enjoyed, but the person she was—the strong opinions, the determined spirit, the creativity, the laughter, and the love she gave in her own unmistakable way. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
