Ryan Young

Ryan Young, 45, departed this life on August 13, 2026.

Born January 13, 1981, to Spence and Peggy Young, Ryan grew up in Lewisburg, Tennessee, surrounded by a large and close-knit family. Family was a big part of Ryan’s life, from Christmas gatherings to the annual Osborne Invitational golf tournament, where everyone came together to compete, laugh, tell stories and make memories.

Ryan attended Marshall County High School, where he played basketball and was one half of the duo affectionately known as the “Twin Towers of MCHS.”

Basketball was also something special Ryan shared with his little brother, Kyle. Ryan loved reminding Kyle that he was always taller than him and never missed an opportunity to push his buttons. The two played basketball together growing up, and their one year of playing high school basketball together was especially special. Ryan was a senior and Kyle was a freshman. They were both incredibly competitive, but they always cheered each other on. Ryan could talk Kyle into just about anything, and Kyle was usually willing to go right along with him. Their brotherhood was filled with competition, laughter, teasing and a bond that went far beyond the basketball court.

Ryan continued his basketball career at Carson-Newman University before graduating from Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned both his bachelor’s degree and MBA. After college, he built a career in technology and spent many years working for Dell.

But Ryan was much more than the places he attended, the teams he played for or the companies where he worked.

At his core, Ryan had an incredibly giving heart. He liked taking care of people, and when someone needed help, his instinct was often to give what he had. His generosity wasn’t limited to small gestures. At times, Ryan opened his home to people who needed somewhere to live. Helping people was simply part of who he was.

Ryan’s family will remember the whole of his life: the little boy they watched grow up, the basketball player who made his hometown proud, the brother and son they loved, the uncle who adored his nieces and nephew, the cousin who was part of countless family gatherings, and the man whose generous heart led him to care for people who needed him.

Ryan’s life was bigger than its final chapter, and the people who loved him will carry with them memories spanning all 45 years of it.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Spence and Peggy Young; his brother, Kyle Young and his wife, Kim; his beloved nephew, Hunter, and nieces, McKenzie, Spencer and Emmie; along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

A memorial visitation with the family will be held at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM, providing an opportunity for loved ones to gather, share memories, and celebrate Ryan's life.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
