Jimmy Garten

Jimmy Garten, beloved Christian, kindhearted friend, and loving soul, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, at the age of 71. He was born on July 15, 1955, in Williamson, West Virginia.

Jimmy was truly one of the kindest and sweetest people you could ever meet. He had a gentle spirit and a heart full of love for everyone he encountered. He loved people unconditionally and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. His forgiving heart, patience, and quiet strength were a blessing to all who knew him.

Jimmy was a quiet man, more comfortable listening than talking. Yet, his presence spoke volumes. He had a way of making people feel accepted, cared for, and loved simply by being there. He never sought attention for the good he did; he simply helped because that was who he was.

His faith was an important part of his life. As a Christian, Jimmy carried a spirit of compassion, forgiveness, and love that was reflected in the way he treated others. He leaves behind a beautiful example of what it means to love without judgment and to give without expecting anything in return.

Jimmy had many simple joys that brought him happiness. He was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers. He also loved playing his guitar and painting pictures, expressing his creativity in ways that reflected the gentle and thoughtful person he was.

Those who knew Jimmy will remember his kindness, his patience, his forgiving nature, his quiet smile, and the unconditional love he gave so freely. The world is a little quieter without him, but the love he shared will remain in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Susan Garten, sons, Douglas Stanley (Ginalynn), Jared Stanley (Rosemary), and Levi Farr, daughters, Rachel Norman (Bobbie), Jamie Gartin, Renee Burrahm (Tommy), and Danielle Cardin (Corey), brother, Lonnie Gartin (Becky), sister, Jean Little (Larry), grandchildren, Bobbie Jr., Lana, Connor, Cathryne, Caramon, Joram, Marigold, Caleb, Ashlynn, Toby, Gabby, Colton, Hadley, Dallas, Wrenlee, and Millie, and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, James Gartin, mother, Bernice Seeley Barron, daughter, Shannon Gartin and granddaughter Faith.

Jimmy's life was a gift, and his memory will be cherished forever. May he rest in the peace of his Lord and Savior, surrounded by eternal love and grace.
