Grady Gatlin

January 15, 1951 — December 18, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Grady Paul Gatlin, who left us on December 18, 2024. Born on January 15, 1951, Grady was a true gem of a man, known for his big heart and generous spirit. He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought.

Grady had a knack for electronics, making him the go-to for repairs in his younger days. He loved completing projects ahead of schedule, often taking on more than he could handle just to lend a hand. He had a humorous side that would occasionally surprise you, and yes, he could be a bit bossy at times! But that was Grady—always looking out for others.

A lover of TV Westerns and classic poker games, he had a special place in his heart for little glass bottled Cokes, which he enjoyed while reminiscing about the good old days. Over the years, Grady worked at several places, including Dixie Radio & TV, Teledyne, Harber's Market, and Genesco, leaving a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Grady is survived by his companion of 20 years, Connie Shrum, son, Leslie Paul (Janet) Gatlin, daughers, Denise (John) Hopper, and Angie (Josh) Zandman, sisters, Betty (Jim) Bryan, and Alice (Robert) Crowell, grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Laiklyne, Briar (Haley), and Mallory, five great grandchildren and special friends, Wanda Greene and Gary Crosslin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Gerolene Edmondson Gatlin and daughter, Tabitha Doggett.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.  Visitation will be held an hour prior to the memorial service starting at 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
