Darrell Conder

August 16, 1937 — December 17, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Darrell Dean Conder, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on August 16, 1937, Darrell was a man who filled his years with laughter, adventure, and a deep commitment to family and community.

Darrell was a family-oriented individual who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Known affectionately as "The Taxi," he was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was transporting family members, friends, or neighbors to their destinations. A true jokester at heart, Darrell had a unique ability to bring smiles and laughter wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Darrell found joy in the great outdoors, whether he was hunting in the fields or casting a line into tranquil waters. These activities not only provided him with pleasure but also served as cherished moments shared with family and friends, reinforcing his belief in the importance of togetherness.

In addition to being a dedicated family man, Darrell served as a volunteer firefighter for the Mount Zion Fire Department in Illinois, where he embodied bravery and commitment to his community. His passionate service reflected his character, inspiring those around him. He also worked at Bridgestone/Firestone for 29 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan Cleo and Francis Bernice Youtz Conder, his sisters, Marion Taylor, Bernice Conder, and Judith Wright, and brothers, Ivan Cleo Conder Jr. and Dilbert Melvin Conder. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Auten Conder, daughter, Judy Eileen Conder Baker, sons, Darrell Wayne (Dawn) Conder and Darrin Dean Conder, grandchildren, Joshua, Chelsea, Jacob, Dustin, Jesse, Teddi, and Franki, and nine great grandchildren.

Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
