Willard Glenn

November 27, 1907 — September 27, 2002

Marshall County native, 'Preacher' Glenn, died Friday in NHC-Lewisburg.

Born in the Belfast area of Marshall county 1907, he was the son of the late Hugh and Nellie Whitsett Glenn. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of the Union Presbyterian Church of Belfast, a former director of the Bank of Belfast, and a past member and president of the Belfast Lion's Club. In business, Mr. Glenn operated the Belfast Feed Mill until his retirement in the 1980's.

In early 2002, a search was made to located Marshall County's oldest living veteran. In July, 2002, Mr. Glenn was honored with that title. He was awared a plaque of appreciation for his service the the United States, serving in the U. S. Army during World War II. He entered service in 1942, serving in battles in Northern France and Central Europe. For actions during his service, he was awarded four Bronze Stars, EAME Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

In 1963, he married the former Catherine Tate. Mrs. Glenn survives her husband, residing in Belfast. He is additionally survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Sue Higgins of Manchester, TN.

Mr. Glenn will be buried with military honors provided by the U. S. Army, based in Ft. Campbell, KY.
