Vergil Cheatham

February 18, 1923 — July 21, 2003

Mr. Vergil A. Cheatham, age 80, died Monday morning at his South Berlin residence.

A native of Marshall County, he was the son of the late Josiah Daley and Ginnie Mae Hilliard Cheatham, a retired carpenter, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Mildred V. Cheatham of Lewisburg; three sons: Charlie Cheatham and Michael Cheatham both of Lewisburg, and Paul Cheatham of Smyrna GA; two sisters: Polly Barnes of Bell Buckle and Mildred Blackwell of Lewisburg; three brothers: John Cheatham of Kelso, and L. R. Cheatham and Wilburn Cheatham both of Lewisburg; three grandchildren: Tommy Cheatham, Brian Cheatham, and Allison Cheatham; three great-grandchildren: Shannon, Brent, and Ashton; one step grand-daughter: Jill Pickle; and a step great-grandchild: Dane Pickle.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the Rone Cemetery at South Berlin by Rev. Wayne Morgan.

The family will be at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday for visitation, and Wednesday until the funeral hour.
