Biography
Vanessa Jo Simmons, age 34 of Lewisburg, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Mrs. Simmons was a native of Bedford County and was the daughter of Ricky Simmons and Tammye Cashion Harwell. She was preceded in death by Grandparents, Tom and Jean Simmons, Thomas Cashion and one aunt, Vanessa Rush.
Mrs. Simmons worked for Walmart as a Customer service associate and was a member of East Commerce Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Morgan Poarch of Lewisburg; mother, Tammye ( Dennis) Harwell of Lewisburg; father, Ricky ( Patsy) Simmons of Flintville, TN; grandmothers, Kathy Palka of Lewisburg and Step Grandmother, Wanda Cashion of Lewisburg. One sister, Rachel Harwell of Lewisburg; two step brothers, Kelly and Chad Cantrell both of Flintville. Numerous aunts and uncles also survive along with one niece and two nephews.
A memorial service for Vanessa will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be on Friday from 4 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Chiari Malformation Research Institute. www.chiariinstitute.com or an educational fund for Morgan.
