Sarah Kay Bowden

Mrs. Sarah Kay Matthews Bowden, age 54, died Wednesday afternoon, surrounded by her family, at her Lewisburg residence.
Mrs. Bowden was the daughter of the late William Edwin and Sarah Christine Kit Wall Matthews and a member of the Parkview Baptist Church. She received her Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Guidance & Counseling from Middle TN State University. Kay was a 6th grade teacher in the Marshall County School System for 11 years, and completed her career in Guidance in the Metro Nashville School system.
She is survived by her husband: Rocky Bowden; two stepdaughters: Angie Barnes and Cary Whitesell, all of Lewisburg; a sister: Julie Morrow of Nashville; 3 grandchildren: Brent Barnes, Lane Whitesell and Knox Barnes; and 2 nephews: Lee and Jamie Wright.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 PM from the Parkview Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Bowden Family Cemetery.
The family will be at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home on Thursday after 4:00 PM for visitation. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the church.
It is requested that memorial donations be made to the Hospice of the Highland Rim, 2014 Elmer Pogue Dr., Suite A, Columbia, TN 38401.
Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in memory of Kay.
