Mary White

April 11, 1914 — January 9, 2007

Mrs. Mary Beasley White,92, a resident of Oakwood Drive in Lewisburg, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at NHC/ Oakwood Health Care.

Funeral services for Mrs. White will be conducted Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Lewisburg with Reverend Claude McMillion and Reverend Amos Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Columbia. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home.

The Columbia, Tennessee native was the daughter of the late W.S. and Mary Scott Beasley and the widow of George Tidwell White. She attended Agnes Scott College and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She worked as a bacteriologist for the Tennessee Department of Health and Columbia Diary Products. She was active in the life of the church including serving as a Sunday school teacher, President of the Jail Ministry Program and as a deacon at the First Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg. She was a life member of the Board of Directors of the Louisville Theological Seminary and served in numerous positions in the Presbyterian Women of the Church including President of the Presbytery and as a member of the Synod Council. She was also a member of the Lewisburg Study Club and Womans Club, the Tennessee and Marshall County Historical Societies, Cheekwood and the Ladies Hermitage Association. For many years she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Salvation Army Volunteer.

Survivors include three sons, George Waldense White of Franklin, TN, Robert Beasley White of Brentwood, TN, and David Halliburton White of Petersburg, TN; eight grandchildren, Mary Leigh White of Gulfport, FL, Matthew and John White of Murfreesboro, TN, Ginger White Brady of Spring Hill, TN, Allison White of Brentwood, TN, Taylor White of Newport, NC, Lynn and Georgia White of Franklin, TN; four great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or Martha OBryan Center.
