Mrs. Mary Holley Thomas
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Holley Thomas, 88, formerly of Limestone Avenue and resident of Franklin Pike in Lewisburg, died Wednesday, October 16, 2008 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be conducted Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Bills-McGaugh Funeral home with Dr. Tom Dumser officiating. Burial will be in the Lone oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lurlie Mae Worsham Holley and was the widow of W.D. Thomas who died in 1997. Mrs. Thomas was a retired saleslady having been affiliated with Princess Dress Shop, Gladys and Jane Dress Shop and Sullivan's Department Store. She was a 60+ year faithful member of First Baptist Church of Lewisburg, an avid gardner, professional grandmother, and lived her life with the motto of "service above self".
She is survived by two daughters, Bettye Mack McNeil of Knoxville, TN and Angie Dwight Bond of Atlanta, GA; a son, Don Barbara Thomas of Lewisburg, TN; a sister, Martha Vinson of Knoxville, TN; a brother, John Charlotte Holley of Mt. Juliet, TN; six grandchildren, Marc Cathy Vanover of Atlanta, GA, Stacy Wagner of Knoxville, TN, Jonathan Larissa Thomas of Cornersville, TN, Carrie Thomas of Manchester, TN, Nicholas Thomas and Katie Thomas both of Lewisburg, TN; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Taylor of Missouri; three brothers, Allen Holley, Parks Holley, and Charles Holley all of Giles County, Tennessee.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bethany Bible Class at First Baptist Church.
