Luther Smith

Lt. Col. Luther L. Smith, Ret., 84, a resident of Franklin Pike in the Berlin Community, died Saturday, June 3, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Born in Cornersville, he was the son of the late William Luther and Lola Mae Sanders Smith. He made his career by serving our country in the U.S. Army and the U. S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was past commander of the Erwin McQuiddy American Legion Post #39, and member of the VFW Post #5109 and the Lewisburg Elks Lodge #1990. He was active in the affairs of the Berlin United Methodist Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife; Edna L. Worley Smith of the Berlin Community; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 4, 2006 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Bills- Mc-Gaugh Funeral Home with Reverend Don Noble officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville with full military honors being provided by the Robins Air Force Base Honor Guard.
