Linda Dell Bailey Bussart, born November 17, 1942, died in her home in Franklin, TN on January 15, 2004, after an extended illness from cancer. She was the daughter of Dell Dillingham Cowan and the late John Paul Bailey. She is survived by her mother, Dell, her daughters, Brittain Anne Youmans of Chattanooga, TN, Catherine Lee Bowles of Lewisburg, TN, and one granddaughter, Mary Adella Youmans of Chattanooga.

Linda was reared in Florence, AL. She was a 1960 graduate of Coffee High School, where she was honored as Miss Coffee High School. Linda attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. While at the University, she was selected as a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Linda began a dedicated career in education. She taught in Alabama and Tennessee, including Davidson and Marshall counties, for thirty two years. She found great joy in incorporating her travels into her lessons.

She contributed much of her time to community activities. She was appointed for a term on the Marshall County Election Commission. She served as the county campaign manager for Bart Gordon in his first run for Congress. Linda was also chosen as a member of the University of Tennessee Womens Executive Council and was active in the University of Tennessee Alumni Association. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, TN. While a member of St. John Catholic Church in Lewisburg, she played an active role in youth education.
