Lester Brewer

Mr. Lester Ray Brewer, age 77 of Lewisburg, died Monday morning at his residence.

He was a native of Waynesboro, TN and son of the late Frank Leonard and Jimmy Grace Nutt Brewer. He was a member of the Wayne County High School Class of 1947 and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he completed his Bachelor and Master degrees.

On January 1, 1953, while serving in the United States Air Force, Lester married Willadean Jackson in Corinth, Mississippi. The family moved from Montgomery County to Lewisburg where Lester became the Agriculture Extension Agent for Marshall County.

He served in that capacity for 25 years until his retirement in 1994. During that time, he was active in 4-H and the TN Association of Agriculture Agents, where he served one term as District President.

Mr. Brewer was also a member of the Westvue Church of Christ where he served for many years as a teacher, songleader, and Elder.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Willadean Jackson Brewer of Lewisburg; three children: Danny Ray Brewer of Knoxville, Debra Faye Brewer Kirksey of Cary, NC, and Michael Wayne Brewer of Lawrenceville, GA; two siblings: Rubye Brewer Anderson and Herbert Gene Brewer, both of Waynesboro; and five grandchildren: Will, Elizabeth, Haley, Sara, and Amonn. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM from the Westvue Church of Christ. Bro. Jason Hart will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be James O. Whitehead, Van Hill, Alton Baugher, Bobby Brown, Forrest Brown, Houston Williams, Ed Childers, and Larry Sharp. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of the Westvue Church of Christ.

The family will be at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 8:00 PM for visitation. On Wednesday, Mr. Brewers body will lie in state at the church beginning at 9:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hospice of the Highland Rim.

Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in memory of Mr. Brewer.
