Josephine Houston

Mrs. Josephine Woodward Houston,89, a former resident of First Avenue in Lewisburg, died Sunday, August 13, 2006 in Savannah, Georgia.

Funeral services for Mrs. Houston will be conducted Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Claude McMillion officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home.

Born in Cornersville on September 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Robert Dempsey and Ozella Bligh Woodward. Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her husband Charles Aiken Houston, Sr. in 1965. After Mr. Houstons death, Mrs. Houston was a housemother at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville for several years. She was a member and active in the affairs of the First Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Houston of Savannah, GA; her son, Dr. Charles Aiken Houston, Jr. of Roanoke, VA and daughter-in-law, Linda Knowles Houston; her grandchildren, Lisle Houston Engle and wife Eliza of Los Angeles, CA, Laurin Engle Gaylord and husband Jay of Kennesaw, GA, Heather Bligh Houston of Atlanta, GA, and Laura Ashley Houston of Grapevine, TX and her fiance Ben Hardaway; a great grandson, Grant Houston Gaylord.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Beech, Walter Bussart, Bill Gold, Tommy Harris, Tommy Leonard, James Lee McDonough, Phil Petty and Danny Tate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 122 2nd Avenue, North, Lewisburg, Tennessee 37091.
