John "J.T." Thomas Hargrove

August 30, 1934 — February 8, 2020

John Thomas “J.T.” Hargrove, 85, resident of Lewisburg, died peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 11th at 11 AM at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with Mr. Hargrove’s grandson, Jeremy Haskins officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Monday, February 10th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

A Marshall County native, he was born on August 30, 1934 to the late Reuben Hargrove and the late Myrtle Hutchenson Hargrove. J.T. was a forty-seven-year employee of Heil Quaker/ Inter-City Products. Mr. Hargrove was known as a handyman, always trying to fix something. He was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, and a member of the Masons. J.T. would never miss a church function, and enjoyed going to VBS. After retiring, he would walk to the two local nursing homes, and pray with the residents. He also became an avid golf ball collector. Mr. Hargrove was devoted to his family and loved all his grandchildren very much. He loved having all his family come to his house on Sundays.

Survivors include his daughter, Darlene Hargrove Beck of Lewisburg; son, Danny (Mary) Hargrove of Lewisburg; sister, Bonnie Faye Reese; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers include Tim Oliphant, Allen Campbell, Sonny Willis, Clark Cochran, Jimmy King, Mike Mills, Danny Boykin. Honorary pallbearers include his grandsons and nephews.
