Mrs. Hazel Ileene "Nana" Bennett Briggs, age 92 of Lewisburg, passed away on Tuesday December 2, 2008 at NHC- Lewisburg.
A native of Davidson County, and a longtime resident of Nashville. She was the daughter of the late William Edgar Bennett and Kate Ileene Raymer. She was the wife of the late John Griffin Briggs . She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lewisburg and formerly a member of Una Baptist Church of Nasville for 47 years.
Mrs. Briggs is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Griffin Briggs 1957. Two brothers; William Jesse, and George Langford, sister; Sarah Bennett Magnusson, and infant sister, adopted parents; Joseph and Matilda Smith, son-in-law; Rev. Joseph McGehee.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Ileene Briggs McGehee of Lewisburg, TN, two grandsons; Timothy Alan Kim McGehee of Tullahoma, TN, and Andrew Kevin Amy McGehee of Lewisburg, TN. Five great grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Briggs will be conducted on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery with grandson Rev. Tim McGehee, Rev. Paul Woodford, and Dr. Tom Dumser officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and also on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Bethany Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, East Commerce Baptist Church of Lewisburg, TN, and Grace Baptist Church of Tullahoma, TN.
