Harriet England

Mrs. Harriet Lee England, age 95 of Lewisburg, died Tuesday morning in NHC-Oakwood.

On May 14, 1907, Harriet Lee Ford was the first of twelve children born to John Garfield and Anna Elizabeth Davis Ford in Hartford, TN. Young Harriet received her RN certification from Davidson County Hospital in Nashville and committed her life to nursing at Vanderbilt, Davidson County TB Hospital, and finally retiring from Nashville Memorial Hospital.

She married Daniel Hooper England on April 13, 1932 and enjoyed just over 56 years of marriage until death separated them in May, 1988. During her life, she showed her faith in God through her membership with the First Baptist Church of Madison, TN, and more recently with First Baptist Church of Lewisburg. To the England's union were born two daughters, Nancy and Harriet Ann.

Mrs. England is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy L. and William A. Cheatham of Lewisburg, two grandsons and their wives, Kevin Jill Cheatham of Ft. Bragg, NC, and Charles Serena Cheatham of Lewisburg, two great-grand-daughters, Claire Cheatham and Jenna Cheatham, and two brothers, Bob Ford and Nathan Ford, both of Newport, TN. Her daughter, Harriet Ann England, passed away on November 9, 2001.

Rev. Tom Dumser will officiate the funeral service on Friday at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home. Mrs. England will be laid to rest beside her husband and daughter in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville, TN at 1:00 PM on Friday.
