George Beech

August 19, 1925 — January 4, 2009

Mr. George W. Beech, age 83, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away Sunday morning January 4, 2009 at Maury Regional Hospital.

A native of Marshall County, he was the son of the late W.C. Beech and Dessa Barron Beech. Along with his father, they started Beech and Son Grocery in the early 1950's on the Lewisburg square and later relocating in 1961 to West Commerce Street until 1982. After retirement, Mr. Beech worked for Lowes in Columbia for fourteen years.He was a member of the Church Of Christ.

He served our country in World War II in the United States Marine Corps, participating in engagements at the Ryukyu Islands and Okinawa as well as serving as a military policeman in the post-war occupation in China.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Redd Beech of Columbia, four sons, Dr. James W. Beech and John David Beech both of Columbia, TN, Dr. Doug Beech of Bethesda, Maryland and Jeff Beech of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
One Brother, Retired Lt. Col. Harold Beech of Maryland and one sister, Marinola Massey of Nashville. Nine Grandchildren, Two Great Grandchildren and special friend " Snoopy" also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. Beech will be conducted on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Rick Rolin officiating. Burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will be Cole, Alex and Max Beech, Tim Lumpkins, Todd Wolaver and Mickey Orr.
