Frank Houston, Jr

Retired banker Frank B. Houston, Jr., age 99, died Tuesday morning in Whitesburg Gardens in Huntsville.

Born in Marshall County, Mr. Houston was the last of the nine children of Frank B. and Georgiana Brown Houston, Sr., and a member and elder of the Bethbirei Presbyterian Church. Early in his career he worked in the Marshall County Trustees Office, then worked many years with Peoples & Union Bank, retiring as Vice President. Following his retirement, he handled the Accounts & Budget for Marshall County for several years. His personal time was spent farming, milking his cows, and raising his garden. His passion was for his family and church. He was a member of the Rock Creek Bible Society and spent many years active in church matters. In later years, his great-grandchildren, Leiron and Cary, were the focus of his time and energy.

Mr. Houston is survived by his daughter: Edith Houston Cropp of Huntsville; two grandchildren: Geralee Michael Bayless of Owens Crossroads, AL and Houston Cropp of Exton, PA; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Claude McMillion, with music brought by Mrs. Annette Lawrie. Burial will follow beside his wife of 61 years: Leiron Ray Houston, who preceded him in 1988.
