Florence Garrett

August 20, 1919 — February 28, 2005

Florence Barton Garrett, age 85 of Lewisburg, died Monday in Marshall Medical Center.

Mrs. Garrett was the youngest and last surviving child of William Thomas and Ellen Wood Barton. She was born in the Diana Community of Giles County and had been a member of the Church St. Church of Christ. Following high school, she trained locally to become an LPN, which she continued as through her working career.

Mrs. Garrett is survived by two daughters: Patricia Garrett Lane of Nashville, and Brenda Garrett Attkisson of Smithville; a son: Malcolm Butch Garrett of Lewisburg; 6 grandchildren: Kevin Causey, Kimberly Swatzell, Michael J. Attkisson, Deborah Bergman, Steve Attkisson, and Christohper Attkisson; 5 great-grandchildren: Dustin Knowles, Miranda Bergman, Joshua Causey, Micholas Causey, and Kayla Swatzell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.

The family will be at Bills McGaugh Funeral Home after 12:00 noon on Wednesday for visitation, and Thursday until the funeral hour.

Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in memory of Mrs. Garrett.
