OBITUARY NOTICE

CLARENCE ELVIN WHITE

Mr. Clarence Elvin White, age 83, passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 at NHC-Merihil Lewisburg.

A native of the Caney Springs community of Marshall County, he was the
son of the late Ernest White and Susie Lee Scott White. He was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge, VFW Post 5109 and retired in 2008 as City Councilman of the City of Lewisburg. He formerly owned for many years White-Lowe Cleaners. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII in the Philippines.

His wife Mary Wiles White of Lewisburg, one son Ross Tracy White of Nashville, one sister Jessie Lee Hardeman of Chattanooga, TN and two grandchildren Emily Elizabeth White of Knoxville and Charles Ross White of Nashville survives him. Other survivors include a sister-in-law Betty Lou White of Huntsville, AL, a niece Marsha Green of Huntsville, AL and a nephew Joe White of Tallahassee, FL. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. His wife Sara E. White preceded him in death in 2006.

Funeral services of Mr. White will be conducted on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Don Noble officiating with military burial rites at Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Monday, October 6, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday after 10:00 a.m.

Serving as pallbearers are Richard Finley, Sam Shelton, David Cook, Phil Sanders, Phil Blackwell, and John MccAllen. Honorary pallbearers are the Mayor and City Council of the City of Lewisburg.
