Charlie B Allen

June 20, 1945 — February 19, 2025

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of “Charles Charlie” Berdell Allen Jr., affectionately known as Dad, Charlie Granddaddy, Grandpa, Big C, and Green Daddy. Born on June 20, 1945, Charlie departed this life on February 19, 2025, at the age of 79. He was dancing the two step the weekend before he passed away with his beloved wife, Judy Allen. He was a cherished member of the Belfast, TN community.


Charlie was a devoted Christian and an active member of Richland Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he shared his faith and love for others. Throughout his life, he exemplified what it meant to be a kind and giving man; no one ever spoke a bad word about him. His generous spirit and positive demeanor touched the lives of all who knew him. Charlie was known as a jokester, always sporting a smirk that could brighten the cloudiest of days.


A proud Marine, Charlie, served his country with honor before dedicating 39 years of hard work at Walker Die Casting. Beyond his career, he was a passionate horseman who raised horses and found joy in camping with friends and horseback riding. Known for his remarkable skills, Charlie was a talented carpenter who built his own house and was truly a jack of all trades, capable of fixing just about anything.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Berdell Allen Sr and Elizabeth Watson Allen; wife, Sue Park Allen; and sister, Mary Francis Nichols. He is survived by his wife, Judy Allen; his son Andy Allen (Cindy); daughter, Cathy Allen (David Ferguson); stepdaughters, Leesa Hammond and Katy Hammond; grandchildren, Megan Allen Denihan (Mike), Corey Andrew Allen (Christi), Kelsie Ann Lowe (Ethan Fisher); four step grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.


A visitation is scheduled for Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Richland Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will continue Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the Memorial Service time of 2:00 PM at the church. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate his life and share fond memories.

Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love for his family, who he adored deeply. He will be remembered as a father, grandfather, and friend who impacted the lives of many.
