Catherine Sweeton

Mrs. Catherine Katie Sweeton, age 79 of Belfast, died Thursday evening in Maury Regional Hospital.
A native of Kokomo, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Melvin and Viola Marie Britton Schimmel. She was a retired cashier for the State of Florida and a member of the Belfast Baptist Church. Mrs. Sweeton has a heart for the ministry which she showed through her involvement with the Gideons Bible Program.
She is survived by a son: Kent Sweeton of Belfast; and an aunt & uncle: Bonita & Glenn Black of Columbia.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Bob McKinney and Bro. Steve Tudor. Burial followed in Head Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lewis Penfield, Doug Burgess, Barry Lee, Buddy Kennedy, J. W. Nickens, Larry Clay.
Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in memory of Mrs. Sweeton.
