Algie Collins

October 25, 1911 — January 1, 2004

Algie Lee Collins, age 92 of Lewisburg, died Thursday morning in Maury Regional Hospital.

A native of Marshall Co., he was the eldest son of the Grover & Jenny Phipher Collins and a member of the Church St. Church of Christ. He was educated in the Price-Webb Grammar School and graduated from Marshall County High School in 1931. Mr. Collins was a 5th generation farmer in Marshall Co, and was one of the founders of the Merihil Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his wife: Willie Mae London Collins in March 2000.

Mr. Collins is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Jeanette & Larry Sharp; son and daughter-in-law: Grover & Peggy Collins, all of Lewisburg; 3 brothers: Howard Collins and Sam Collins, both of Lewisburg, and Elam Collins of Dyersburg, a sister: Mildred Brown of Cornersville; 6 grandchildren: Sandy Sharp, Susan Douglas, Andy Collins, Matt Collins, Lea Ann Collins, and Chris Collins; and 6 great-grandchildren: Forest Sharp, Rob Anderson, Allie Sharp, Kelsey Collins, Aaron Collins, and Mason Collins.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home by Charles Williamson. Interment will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery, with committal services officiated by Jason Hart.

Bills McGaugh Funeral Home and the United States Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree in memory of Mr. Collins.
