Evelyn Marie Holder Stephens

Mrs. Evelyn Marie Holder Stephens, 89, longtime resident of Lewisburg, died peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2019 at NHC Lewisburg. Funeral Services for Mrs. Stephens will be conducted on Friday, January 3rd at 2:00 PM at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, January 2nd from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home. Born on February 4, 1930 in Chapel Hill, Marie was the daughter of the late Charles H. Holder and the late Maggie Katherine Harris Holder. She was a twenty-six-year employee Newell Corporation, before retiring in 1995. While working at Newell Corporation, she was the Editor of Orders & Computers in the Sample Department. On January 3, 1952, she married the love of her life, John W. “J.W.” Stephens. Marie was a devoted member of the Baptist Church. She was also a lifetime member of Ladies VFW Auxiliary 5109, a lifetime member of VFH National Home, a member of American Regional Post 039, and a past president of VFW Auxiliary 5109. Survivors include her husband of sixty-eight years, John William “J.W.” Stephens of Lewisburg, son, Ronnie (Patti) Stephens of Lewisburg; daughter, Cathey (David) Stephens Nash of Lewisburg; grandsons, Chris (Christie) Stephens of Lewisburg, Daniel (Sarah) Stephens of College Grove, Brad Smith of Murfreesboro; granddaughters, Ashley Smith of Panama City, FL, Jennifer (Daniel) Golden of Athens, AL, Dezerae (Keith) Nash Spacek of College Grove; three great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Mary Ellen Hazlett and Audrey Redd. Active Pallbearers will be Chris Stephens, Daniel Stephens, Daniel Golden, Brad Smith, Keith Spacek, Ray Luna, Randy Hazlett, and Aaron Stephens. Honorary pallbearers include Johnny Hickerson, Mike Sherril, Ray Bennett, Rick Harris, Helen Hardison, Linda Blackwell, Audie Reynolds, Rose Reynolds, David Hazlett, Hulan Humphrey, Delina Bennett, Molly Humphrey, Marilyn McCall, and Gary Holcombe.
